It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about showing up.

Mess Method is a total body conditioning workout that uniquely incorporates elements of pilates, barre, functional training, cardio, and dance.

Our CEO, Amber, personally designs the structure and sequence of each class to give your body what it craves. Between the music and high energy of the room, Mess is something you’ll enjoy all the way through, helping you push past what you thought was possible.

Our Studio

We believe in making the most out of a challenging time, which is why we’ve created three ways to Mess with us: in studio, outdoors, or at home. No matter where you are, you can trust that we’ve taken extreme care to deliver a consistent workout that builds strength and balance in every part of your life.

Our Story

Mess Method emerged from the realization that the challenges life throws at us often emerge as the greatest opportunities.

After spending ten years building a leading fitness brand, Amber had the opportunity to step away and consider the impact she wanted to make through her work. While no longer on the schedule, several of her committed clients reached out and encouraged her to open a studio of her own.

From finding a space to entering a new business partnership, Amber did what she does best — threw herself in, knowing the payoff would be worth the work.

One week out from opening the Mess Method studio, Covid 19 shut down business causing Amber to pivot once again.

Working through the uncertainty, Mess Method launched with a greater reach than ever imaginable, offering in-person workouts to those in the Hoboken community and virtual experiences to individuals across the country.

This is our goal for you: no matter where you’re starting from or what your story is, we’re here to help you move forward. We know in doing so there’s always something better on the other side.

Our Leadership

Amber Hirsch, CEO

Amber Hirsch was drawn to movement before she could write her name. Her teen years of competitive dance paid off with a collegiate scholarship to the University of the Arts. Spending the next decade studying artistic form and strength-based movement, she developed a signature workout series for prominent local studios and private clients.

In 2019, Amber founded Mess Method where she delivers challenging and feminine workouts to devoted clientele in Hoboken and beyond.

Ellen Effron, COO

For 37 years Ellen Effron practiced custody and divorce litigation as a partner in matrimonial boutiques. In addition to co-authoring several books, appearing on national television and radio as an expert on topics related to children and the law, and serving in leadership positions in the field, in 1985 she founded the Mediation Institute at Harvard Law School.

As Amber’s private client for ten years, Ellen had such faith in her creative ability, choreography, and knowledge of the body in movement that she eventually encouraged her to open her own studio. Never imagining she would be at the helm of another business, Ellen now proudly serves as Amber’s business partner and sounding board.
